Sea Level Rise and Beach Erosion
Surfrider South OC Chapter has been engaged for over a decade advocating for local coastal cities to update their coastal programs with updates including long-term sea level rise planning. Locally, we have seen in real time the alarming impacts on our coastline and beaches, including San Clemente, Capistrano Beach and Aliso Beach in our chapter footprint. Surfrider advocates for thoughtful adaptation strategies and entities with jurisdiction over those beaches at risk to identify threats and opportunities for coastal resiliency projects that are nature-based.
