Get nuclear waste off our coast!

San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station is one of over 90 in the US that has been or in process of being decommissioned. San Onofre is an extremely problematic decommissioned plant as radioactive waste is being stored on our local coastline, susceptible to geologic instability and location within a very densely populated area. Surfrider recognizes that waste needs to be cooled onsite before it is moved and we advocate this is done as safely as possible. We also strongly advocate that the waste is moved as soon as possible to a consent-based, geologically stable permanent location away from our coast. Take action now and tell Congress to support development of a permanent repository:
